Corticosteroid cream rash

The following side effects have been reported with topical corticosteroid medications: itching, irritation, dryness, infection of the hair follicles, increased hair, acne, fragile blood vessels, sensitization (local reactions upon repeated application of product), change in skin color, allergic skin reaction, skin thinning, and stretch marks. In children, reported adverse events for Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Dipropionate Cream include slower growth, Cushing's syndrome (a type of hormone imbalance that can be very serious), and local skin reactions, including thinning skin and stretch marks. Hormone imbalance (adrenal suppression) was demonstrated in clinical studies in children.

My itching started 10 days after giving birth to my son. my obgyn said it was not Pupp because “Pupp only occurs during prgnancy.” So I went to my family doctor and he said he had treated 3 cases of Pupp after delivery and he was sure what I had was Pupp. He prescribed prednisone for 7 days and the itch went away after day two. However 3 days after i finioshed the dosage, the itch came back. Its been two weeks since then and I am still itching. Hot compresses before bed seem to give me enough relief for me to fall asleep.

Like other topical corticosteroids, hydrocortisone valerate has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive properties. The mechanism of the anti-inflammatory activity of the topical steroids, in general, is unclear. However, corticosteroids are thought to act by the induction of phospholipase A 2 inhibitory proteins , collectively called lipocortins. It is postulated that these proteins control the biosynthesis of potent mediators of inflammation such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes by inhibiting the release of their common precursor arachidonic acid. Arachidonic acid is released from membrane phospholipids by phospholipase A 2 .

Google skin clinics near ur area..if u are from south africa like me u can go to Diva Slimming Aesthetics in Sunninghill, they do removal of steetchmarks. Well stretchmarks wont completely go away but atleast they can fade after a few treatments. Bio oil and other stretchmark creams alone, wont help with severe stretchmarks u need laser treatments to get them removed. They charge R1200 for 3 sessions in 1 area for removal of stretchmarks. Bio oil and other creams will only help abit I guess…Steroid creams like epiderm, bethnovate, movate, g&g, diproson, all creams that come with tubes all contain steroids…steroids cause stretchmarks in the long run…hydroquinine products can only be used for a short while if u use hydroquinone for too long, it makes dark patches on ur forehead called ochronosis. Ladies u must google information first for anything u want to do or anything the u!
